About the surrounding area

Obviously, we can’t cover everything there is to see and do in London, but here’s just a taste of some of the things that are within easy reach of the hotel which are a great introduction to this most exciting of cities.

As we’ve already said, the hotel is situated close to Bayswater and Notting Hill where you’ll find lots to entertain and delight. One of the highlights is Portobello Road, an eclectic area with great shopping, interesting restaurants, funky cafes and so much more. If you happen to be at umi over a weekend, then the antiques market held there every Saturday is an event not to be missed. In Notting Hill itself, there are some wonderful cinemas and top class restaurants to enjoy and there’s really nothing nicer than a stroll through the glories of Hyde Park, lovely on a summer’s day, but just as good on a frosty winter one.

You’re not too far away from London’s famous department stores either. Harrods, Selfridges and Liberty’s are just a short tube hop from the hotel. And if museums are on your hitlist of places to visit, the Science, Natural History and V&A are all there to explore.

Remember, the umi team can recommend where to go and what to do to help make the most of your time in London – especially if it’s your first visit – so don’t be afraid to ask.

We’ve also produced a special umi Walking Tour of the local area complete with a clearly marked map and accompanying audio commentary. It’s a great way to explore what’s on the Hotel’s doorstep, giving you an insight into the history of the area in which umi London is based.
