300 years of comic art celebrated in Rude Britania
In Britain we do things differently when it comes to our politicians - when other countries are on strike, running through the streets in protest or revolution we quietly mock. We put politicians and public figures in their place by laughing at them.
The British sense of humour is now on display in London for all to see, charting 300 years of Rude Britania.
Rude Britania opens on Wednesday at the Tate Britain Gallery, focusing on 300 years of silly-ness and asking the question - is there such a thing as the British sense of humour whilst reviewing the way our political and cultural satire has effected and shaped the destiny of the nation.
“Rude Britannia” is at Tate Britain until 5th September.
