Cable Car Planned to Span The Thames to Join up Olympic Venues in Time for 2010

Transport for London are planning a £25 million scheme to created a Cable Car transport system that will span The Thames to join up Olympic venues in time for 2010.

The new scheme is aimed at increasing the number of crossing East of Tower Bridge, create an iconic tourist attraction whilst cutting the traveling time between Olympic venues in time for the Olympics.

Transport for London have suggested it can move 2,500 people in each direction every hour (which is around 50 bus loads) and it will be fully accessible to people on foot, bicycles and wheelchair users.

The Cable Car is proposed to run from close to the 02 Arena to the Royal Victorian Docks and represents an exciting new development for the London skyline.
