Chinese New Year in London

Welcome in the Chinese New Year in London with a packed season of events across the city and huge celebrations in Trafalgar Square and Leicester Square.

Chinese New Year 2010, the Year of the Tiger, falls on the 14th February. The main London Chinatown Chinese Association celebration takes place on the 21st February in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Chinatown.

In Trafalgar Square, two groups from China will perform world-class dance, music and acrobatics after an official opening ceremony. There will also be firecrackers, Chinese dragons, lions and Chinese acrobatics.
Meanwhile, Chinatown will be bustling with special decorations, stalls, food and lion dance displays. Shaftesbury Avenue will become “Hong Kong in London Chinatown” with a stage featuring performances by local Chinese artists.

A fireworks display in Leicester Square will close the celebrations.
