London Gay Pride 2011
London Pride festival fortnight commences on Friday the 17th June until Sunday the 3rd July. Every year, huge crowds pack the streets of London to watch the spectacular parade of celebrities, floats, and performers marking the UK’s largest gay and lesbian festival.
The actual Pride Parade will take place on Saturday the 2nd July. This year the parade will follow a different route due to the closure of Oxford Street, instead the parade will start in Portland Place, outside the BBC Broadcasting House, at 1pm.
Following the parade, there will be an afternoon of entertainment. Speakers, community events and music will celebrate gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people as well as raising awareness and tackling issues including bullying, discrimination and homophobic abuse.
