London plays host to French President for Charles de Gaulle Celebration

French President Nicolas Sarkozy marked the 70th anniversary of Charles de Gaules’ rallying cry made from Broadcasting House in London.

Charles de Gaulle fled to London in 1940 and on 18 June made his war broadcast rallying the French against Nazi Germany.

Nicolas Sarkozy and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy had official engagements in the city with the likes of Prince Charles and the British Prime Minister.
