Covering eight conflicts in 20 years, this new display explores the contribution of Britain’s post-war national service conscripts as they moved from civilian to soldier. Personal stories of endless drilling and grueling inspections are contrasted with detail on how such a range of difficult commitments sent these young men to far-flung corners of the world.
