Queen returns to Wimbledon after 33 years

The Queen is to visit London’s Wimbledon Tennis Championship today after an absence of 33 years.

The Queen is expected to meet the British no. 1 Andy Murray before she watches his match against Finland’s Jarkko Nieminen on Centre Court.

The last time the Queen attended the event Virginia Wade won the Ladies Singles Championship - which marked the last British signles title in the last 33 years.
